This lot comes from Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most renowned coffee-growing regions, and is the result of the combined efforts of 81 smallholder farmers affiliated with the Peña Roja Cooperative. Grown at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,900 metres, the coffee is traditionally processed using the washed method. Careful attention at every stage of post-harvest processing, combined with the cooperative’s rigorous quality control, results in an exceptionally clean, well-balanced coffee that truly reflects the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
In the cup, sweetness takes centre stage, bringing to mind a delicate dessert. The first notes reveal a gentle fruitiness reminiscent of pear tart, supported by a full-bodied texture with hints of freshly baked biscuits. The finish brings the profile together with a rich chocolate base, leaving a long-lasting, indulgent and satisfying aftertaste.
This lot has been roasted specifically for espresso, with the aim of enhancing its body and natural sweetness. Under pressure, the coffee develops a dense, rich texture, with chocolate and biscuit notes forming the perfect foundation for subtle hints of pear. It makes an excellent espresso on its own, while its robust structure pairs beautifully with milk, creating a creamy drink with pronounced pastry-like notes..
